Walter Shamble to run for mayor

Walter Shamble will run for mayor of Hopkinsville in this year’s general election.

He filed to seek the position as an independent and will be on the November ballot.

Shamble ran unsuccessful campaigns for mayor in 2006, 2010 and 2014 and was on the ballot for city council three times in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.

He has spoken during public comments at Hopkinsville City Council meetings many times over the years and often ends his remarks with “I speak for the poor.”

Shamble holds a political science degree from Kentucky State University.

Republican Mayor Carter Hendricks is seeking reelection and former city councilman Jason McCraw is running for mayor as a Democrat.
