Alleged drunk driver arrested after foot pursuit

A short foot pursuit ended on Cates Street Sunday night with the arrest of a man on DUI and other charges.

Hopkinsville Police Officer Clevin Robinson attempted to stop 40-year old Corey Gray of the city on East Ninth Street at Hope Street for driving without his headlights illuminated. Gray turned onto Hope and then onto Cates and began exiting his car before coming to a stop.

Gray was ordered to stop, but allegedly ran and was caught a short distance away in front of 1201 Cates.

An arrest citation says he smelled of alcohol, but denied drinking. He said he ran because he wasn’t supposed to be driving. He refused to take the breathalyzer test.

Gray was arrested for DUI, driving on a DUI suspended license, fleeing or evading police and failure to illuminate head lights.
