Three arrested for check fraud, drugs

An investigation of check fraud at a local liquor store Saturday led to the arrest of three Hopkins County residents on multiple charges.

Hopkinsville Police say 29-year old Ronald Robinson of Nortonville attempted to pass a forged check at Charlie’s Liquor Store and presented the identification of another person as his own. He also provided the same ID to police when officers located him at the Dollar General on North Main Street.

Two women were in a car Robinson had been inside—identified as 51-year old Rita Garrett of Nortonville and 25-year old Bobbie Jo Adams of Madisonville. Another forged check was found in the car, in addition to a small vile of liquid that appeared to be Fentanyl.

Adams told Police Garrett had thrown two bags of from her car after dropping Robinson off at the store.

All three were arrested—with Robinson charged with felony theft, criminal possession of a forged instrument, theft of identity and other crimes related to the checks. Garrett was charged with possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a forged instrument and tampering with evidence. Adams is charged with possession of a controlled substance.
