Unemployment dropped from November to December in eight of nine Pennyrile counties.
Christian County’s December jobless rate was 4.5 percent, down from 4.9 percent in November and down from 5.4 percent a year ago. It meant 1,123 people who were looking for work were unable to find it.
Todd County maintains the lowest unemployment rate in all of western Kentucky at 3.2 percent, down from 3.7 percent in November and from 3.6 percent a year ago.
The December jobless rate in Trigg County was 4.6 percent, down two-tenths of a point from November and down nine-tenths from a year ago.
Livingston County has the Pennyrile region’s highest jobless rate at 6.6 percent.
The state average was 3.7 percent and the national number was 3.9.
