Ky. A.G. creates special unit to investigate sexual assault cases

Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear has created a special unit to investigate sexual assault cold cases.

The unit is funded by $3 million federal grant and includes a victim advocate, investigator and prosecutor. Attorney General Beshear says the funds will allow them to seek justice for victims who have waited too long.

He says the group will lead the charge on holding perpetrators responsible.

The funding will also cover the cost to test any remaining untested rape kit in the state. Beshear says every kit in Kentucky will be tested without exception.                                                                                                  **
