Man arrested on drug charges following traffic stop

A Hopkinsville man was arrested on several charges Thursday evening including possession of methamphetamine and tampering with physical evidence.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, 53-year old Mark Corby of Hopkinsville was a passenger in a vehicle that officers conducted a traffic stop on. During the stop Corby allegedly tried to swallow what was determined to be meth in an attempt to keep officers from discovering it.

Corby reportedly resisted arrest, pulling away from officers and fighting to keep his arms away from them. A search of the vehicle revealed a plastic baggie filled with Lortabs. After being arrested, Corby allegedly claimed ownership of the drugs.

He was charged with possession of meth, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest. He was additionally served with an arrest warrant out of Logan County.                                                                                                **
