Pennyrile district receives veteran care super-hub designation

The Pennyrile Area Development District (PeADD) has been named one of five Veteran Directed Care Program super-hubs in the nation.

The care program has recently become available at all Veteran Administration Medical Centers across the country. According to the U.S. Veterans Affairs Department, the care program allows veterans to receive personal care services in a consumer directed way.

Through the program, veterans can still live independently and receive help with meals, house cleaning, bathing and other services.

Veterans approved to the care program will be referred to PeADD’s Agency on Aging and Independent Living where they can be connected to care and service planning, fiscal management services and counseling and support to veterans, their families and caregivers.

Agency Director, Jill Collins says the expansion of the care program will significantly enhance the ability of enrolled veterans to remain in their homes and communities, exercising greater control over their long-term care.
