Kentucky State Police are now investigating the murder of a Benton man after he was found deceased in a residence in Marshall County Saturday.
According to a news release, troopers responded to an abandoned vehicle located in the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area that was discovered by the U.S. Forestry Service around 8 p.m. on Friday.
Troopers went to a residence in the Possom Trot area of Marshall County to conduct a welfare check into the known operator of the abandoned vehicle, 44-year-old Jesse Moore of Benton. Upon arrival, they discovered Moore deceased from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
An autopsy confirmed Moore as the victim, and his death is being investigated as murder. Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to contact KSP Post 1 at 270-856-3721.
