Man charged with third-degree assault, strangulation

A Hopkinsville man is facing numerous charges following an alleged physical altercation between him and his significant other on Koffman Drive Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Hopkinsville Police Department report, officers responded to the 100 block of Koffman Drive around 2:30 p.m., where the victim told officers that she and 19-year-old Jayvion Hearst of Hopkinsville had been in a verbal argument that became physical when she attempted to leave.

He allegedly grabbed the victim by the neck and threw her around the apartment, and prevented her from calling the police while threatening to kill her if she tried to leave.

Officers took Hearst into custody, and he allegedly slammed his head against the partition in the cruiser, causing a laceration to his head. While at the hospital, Hearst reportedly kept yelling, causing blood from the cut to spray onto two officers.

Hearts was charged with second-degree strangulation, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, third-degree terroristic threatening and third-degree assault of an officer pertaining to bodily fluids.
