Clarksville PD investigating possible explosive device on Avalon Street

The Clarksville Police Department is investigating a suspicious, possible explosive device that was found on Avalon Street Wednesday. 

According to a news release, the device—described as a small black bag with what looked to be a fuse-like item sticking out of it—was found in a vehicle that the caller had just picked up from a scrap yard.  The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office District 7 Bomb Squad responded to the scene, while the area of Avalon Street, a portion of Fort Campbell Boulevard and Sevier Street were closed to the public. 

The bomb squad conducted render-safe procedures to the device was no longer a threat.

No other information was immediately available and there is an investigation ongoing at this time.
