Hopkinsville man charged in shots fired incident

A Hopkinsville man is facing charges of wanton endangerment after he allegedly fired a gun on the American Inn on North Main Street Friday.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers responded to reports of shots fired and while on scene at Hilltop Street, heard three gunshots coming from the American Inn. Outside of the window of room 105, officers located multiple shell casings and bullet holes in the fence outside.

Contact was made with the occupant of the room, 66-year-old Thomas Quick of Hopkinsville, who allegedly told officers he did shoot out of the window to see if his gun worked.

A search of the room reportedly revealed two guns—Quick reportedly told officers he had been drinking and was going through a mental health problem.

He was arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment.
