Museums of Hopkinsville offering bus tours for Juneteenth celebration

The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County will be offering a new tour bus program on Saturday in celebration of Juneteenth.

According to a news release, the Museums and Visit Hopkinsville are partnering to take attendees on a bus tour of Hopkinsville’s African American history at 1:15 p.m., 3:15 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. The tour follows the African American History Cell Phone Tour, which has sites primarily on the east side of Hopkinsville.

This opportunity is offered in conjunction with the Hopkinsville Juneteenth Celebration. The event will be held at the Boys & Girls Club from 1p.m. until 6 p.m. and features a keynote speaker, vendors, a fashion show, food trucks, and more. For more information, visit Hopkinsville Juneteenth Celebration on Facebook.

The bus will load and the tour will begin at the Boys & Girls Club on South Walnut Street. Tours will be narrated by Gwenda Motley and Alissa Keller, Museum Director, and will last about 45 minutes.

There is no cost to ride, but each tour is limited to 10 people and is first come, first serve.
