Elkton will officially unveil signage Friday afternoon dedicating a city street to honor a local hero who died last year at the age of 101.

Elkton City Council recently renamed North Weathers Lane to Mr. Guy Mallory Lane and the unveiling will be 1 p.m. Friday at the intersection with West Main Street.

Mallory served his country during World War II and during the Korean conflict. He later retired from the U.S. Postal Service, including years worked at the Elkton office, and the street in his honor is adjacent to that building.

Mallory is described as a ‘model citizen,’ having donated land for the Todd County Seniors Center and the Todd County Public Library.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony.
