Valentine’s Day is also National Donor Day and Christian Circuit Clerk Gary Haddock used the occasion to remind citizens to sign up to be an organ and tissue donor.
A news release from Haddock says that in 2017, Kentucky recorded its second-highest total ever of lives saved through organ transplantation—coming in at 108. A total of 361 organs were recovered and transplanted and 330 tissue donors helped people heal.
Kentuckians can register as an organ donor when they renew their driver’s license at their circuit court clerk’s office or online at registerme.org.
