HPD: Man hit woman on head with wine bottle

A Hopkinsville man who allegedly struck his girlfriend on the head with a bottle was arrested early Monday morning on an assault charge.

The arrest citation for 56-year old James Phillip White of Hopkinsville says White and the victim had been consuming alcohol at a Ferrell Street location about 11:30 p.m. when the woman said she wanted to go home to her residence.

That’s when White allegedly threw her on the bed and sat on the woman, holding her hands above her head. He eventually let the woman go, but threw her belongings at her and allegedly struck her on the forehead with an unopened bottle of wine.

The victim had a swollen area on her forehead, according to Hopkinsville Police.

White was arrested a few minutes after 1 a.m. and charged with second-degree assault (domestic violence) and unlawful imprisonment.
