Hopkinsville High’s basketball programs get good & bad news Thursday

Hopkinsville’s boys basketball team will have Stephen “Shorty” Cager back on the team. According to a news release Thursday from Christian County superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill, Cager was suspended from athletics in November for a positive drug test.

Cager apologized last month and sought help. Gemmill also stated Cager has complied with all preconditions allowing his return and he will be conditionally reinstated to the team tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Lady Tigers will be without Zakayra Stallworth for the rest of the season. Coach Anthony Babb said Thursday the 6-2 senior suffered a torn ACL. Stallworth was averaging 6.4 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
