Weather a factor in fatal Logan County accident

Winter weather was a factor in a head-on collision Monday morning in Logan County that killed a Russellville woman.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office investigated and determined 18-year old Travis Mast of Whitesville, Tennessee was southbound on KY 103 approximately three miles north of Auburn about 7:30 a.m. when trailer he was towing behind his pickup began fish-tailing due to the slick roadway.

He lost control of his truck, crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by 44-year old Kellie Shockley of Russellville head-on.

A third car behind Shockley driven by 28-year old Lonnie Detweiler of Auburn struck Mast’s pickup on the passenger side.

Shockley and her passenger, 20-year old Nova Shockley of Russellville, were taken by ambulance to Logan Memorial Hospital and Kellie was pronounced dead at the emergency room.

No one else was injured in the crash.
