Governor Andy Beshear extended his executive order to maintain reduced gas taxes in 33 cities and counties, including Oak Grove, where local officials requested an extension.
As a result of rising gas prices, Beshear issued an executive order on May 5 reducing the gas tax by 10 cents per gallon. According to Beshear’s Office, once the executive order passes the 30-day mark, Kentucky law requires county judge executives or city mayors to request to have it extended.
In cities and counties where the executive order was not extended, the gas tax will increase 10 cents starting on Thursday. Beshear says gas prices are too high across the country due to continued war in Iran and the executive order is helping families save money at the pump.
Along with Oak Grove, the order was also extended in Earlington and Drakesboro.
