Boys: Hopkinsville had an early 20-8 lead against University Heights last night, but the defending 2nd region champions rallied for a 62-56 victory at Tiger Gym. The Blazers were led in scoring by Xavier signee KyKy Tandy’s 33 points with Drew McGowan pitching in 11. The Tigers had three players in double figures led by James Nicholas with 16, Don Victor added 12 and Jamarion Sharp pitched in 11.
University Heights is now 5-0/1-0 in district play while Hopkinsville fell to 4-2/0-1 in 8th district games.
Girls: Hopkinsville opened 8th district play with a 68-37 victory over University Heights. The Lady Tigers hit 11 three pointers in the win led by Yogiannah McKnight with 20 points with Breon Oldham adding 19 and Aeronna Day with 11. The Lady Blazers got 10 points from Lily Hendricks, 9 from Megan Adams and 8 from Alex Juckett.
Hopkinsville is 6-1 overall/1-0 in district play while University Heights is 4-2/0-1 in district competition.
