HCC claims three state awards

Hopkinsville Community College is celebrating receiving several state awards recently thanks to efforts from HCC staff.

According to a news release, the Office of Advancement at the college, which includes marketing and communication, competed in the recent Kentucky Council for the Advancement and Support of Education annual recognition program.

The local college received three competitive awards—Grand Award for Illustration for the HCC Eclipse Logo, an original illustration design by Director of Marketing and Communication Rena Young, Grand Award for Philanthropy Sub-Unit Campaign for the HCC’s 2017 Eclipse Visitor Solicitation by Chief Advancement Officer Yvette Eastham, and an Award of Excellence for Specialty Piece Graphic Design for HCC’s eclipse products by Young.

Hopkinsville Community College was the only community college or two-year institution that received awards from the organization.

Eastham says, “We are an extremely small operation and we make strategic decisions that maximize potential benefit. The 2017 eclipse offered us opportunities not only to engage our local constituents but to ask for support for student scholarships from the over 3,000 people who visited our campus on the day of the eclipse.”
