The Pennyroyal Arts Council had to temporarily move its headquarters to the Alhambra Theatre after smoke entered its home in the L & N Depot on East Ninth Street Tuesday afternoon.

Hopkinsville firefighters were called to the building just west of the railroad tracks at 12:49 p.m. and found smoke in the area of the front restroom, according to Captain Michael Pendleton, who says they made a hole in the exterior wall and doused the smoldering area.

A search of the building turned up no fire or other dangers elsewhere, but the Arts Council had to move due to the power being shut off, according to Pendleton.

Cause of the smoke remains under investigation and no one was injured.
