Rep. Petrie to chair House Judiciary Committee

Sixteenth District state Representative Jason Petrie of Elkton has been selected to chair the House Judiciary Committee for the next two years.

The Republican lawmaker, who operates a private law practice in Elkton, says he knows from experience just how busy the committee has been and will remain.

Petrie says he will consider input from all parties involved in any legislation that comes before the Judiciary Committee.

Senator Whitney Westerfield of Christian County chairs the same committee in the Senate and Petrie says they’ve maintained a good relationship over the years.

Representative Petrie expects legislation regarding bail reform to come up during the 2019 session and some type of bill to combat ‘spoofing’ of cell phone numbers.

Petrie represents all of Todd and Logan counties and a small portion of Warren County.
