More details released on Friday accident on Parkway

More information has been released on a wreck Friday evening on the Pennyrile Parkway that sent a local man to a Nashville hospital.

The report from Christian County Sheriff’s Sgt. James Dragoo says 24-year old Ryan Jaynes of Hopkinsville was northbound near the 2 mile-marker and was attempting to pass a dump truck driven by 36-year old Justin Hartness of Nashville, Arkansas.

A witness said the dump truck made contact with Jaynes’ small pickup, causing it to spin and then flip.

It came to rest off the shoulder of the road and Jaynes was ejected through the side window.

He was flown to a Nashville hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Hartness kept driving until he was stopped by deputies five miles down the road on the exit ramp to Fort Campbell Boulevard. He reportedly said he did not make contact with Jaynes’ vehicle and that bystanders told him to leave when he stopped.

He was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving on a suspended license, first-degree wanton endangerment, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
