Pennyrile Electric sending 10 linemen to east coast to assist after hurricane

Pennyrile Electric is sending 10 linemen to an area on the east coast being impacted by Hurricane Florence this week.

Brent Gilkey says they’ll be taking six trucks to help restore electricity after the storm has passed.

If the hurricane causes as many problems as advertised, it could be an extended stay for the local crew.

Other cooperatives have sent personnel to our area in ice storms and after tornadoes and Gilkey says they return the favor when possible.

As previously reported, Com Care has a team of EMS personnel from Todd, Caldwell, Logan, Crittenden and Ohio counties that is already staged on the east coast waiting to provide aid after the hurricane.
