Western Kentucky avoids any severe weather damage

Western Kentucky was under a severe thunderstorm watch several hours yesterday and last night, but avoided any reports of damage.

A thunderstorm was likely a factor in kicking a breaker at the Edgoten substation that put about 4,700 Pennyrile Electric members in the Oak Grove area in the dark late last night. Power was restored to those homes within about an hour.

Heavy rain accompanied some of the storms, with an inch and a half falling in the last 24 hours at the Mesonet site on Old Trenton Road in Todd County, seven tenths of an inch in Trigg County and about six tenths just north of Hopkinsville.

More pleasant temperatures and dry weather are now in the forecast for the next several days.
