In the National League: Austin Gomber fired six innings of three-hit, shutout ball as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Washington Nationals 4-2. The series concludes tonight at Busch Stadium.

Kevin Gausman combined with three relievers on a four-hitter as the Atlanta Braves beat the Miami Marlins 5-2 to complete a four-game sweep at SunTrust Park. Benches emptied when red-hot Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. was hit by Jose Urena on the first pitch of the bottom of the 1st inning.

Acuna had led off the last three games with a home run and had homered in five consecutive games overall. The Braves welcome the Colorado Rockies this evening.

Anthony Rizzo smacked a two-run homer in the first inning and drove in three as the Chicago Cubs doubled up the Milwaukee Brewers 8-4 at Wrigley Field. The Cubs open a weekend series at Pittsburgh tonight.
