Warrants detail broken bones, internal injuries to infant in abuse case

Warrants against the Herndon couple arrested for an alleged assault against their two-month old son detail broken bones and internal injuries that put him in a Nashville hospital.

As previously reported, the infant was taken by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center Sunday afternoon and was later transferred by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Medical personnel determined the injuries were consistent with abuse and Kentucky State Police arrested 23-year old Cassandra Hansley of Herndon for first-degree assault and 24-year old Cody Hansley of Herndon for complicity to first-degree assault.

Warrants for the couple say the victim had multiple brain hemorrhages, a lacerated liver, a ruptured spleen, multiple broken ribs, a fractured wrist and a fractured femur.

Police say the Hansley’s admitted the infant was in their sole custody when the injuries occurred.

Both suspects were lodged in the Christian County Jail on a $1 million bond.

A news release from KSP says the victim is in stable condition.
