Trigg County welcomes back students for new school year

Trigg County Public Schools opened a new school year Monday morning and members of the community were on hand to welcome the students back.

Many held signs wishing the students well in the 18-19 school year and the band played several numbers outside of Trigg Middle as students arrived.

Superintendent Travis Hamby says the first day is always an exciting time.

Hamby urges students to make the most of their opportunities this year.

James Mangels is the Director of Student Services and Personnel for Trigg County Schools and says visitors will need to be aware of a new check in and check out policy this year that’s focused on keeping the buildings safe.

Mangels says staying organized will be key for students to be successful throughout the school year.

Christian and Todd County public schools opened their school years last week.
