Report: Man arrested on warrant, woman hindered apprehension

Hopkinsville Police arrested a wanted fugitive at a West Seventh Street home Friday night and a woman was also arrested for hindering police.

An arrest citation says officers could see 33-year old Matthew Riley and 31-year old Amanda Burgess of Hopkinsville inside the home when they knocked on the door a few minutes before 11 p.m.

Burgess came to the door and initially said Riley wasn’t there, but changed her answer to yes after being warned that hindering apprehension is a felony.

She said she’d go get Riley, but never returned to the door, according to the report, which says officers had to make entry to locate both individuals.

Riley was served with the warrant and Burgess was arrested for hindering the apprehension of a fugitive.
