Hoppers lose two at Henderson, return home tonight

The Henderson Flash swept the Hoptown Hoppers in a doubleheader at BT Wayne Field in Henderson last night.

Jacob Bowles pitched a complete game four hit shutout as the Flash won game one 4-0. Bowles struck out seven and walked two. Malik Blaise had two of the Hoppers four hits with Cole Cummings and Cody Hartness getting the other two hits. Sam Traver went the distance in taking the loss.

In the nightcap, Henderson won in nine innings 5-4. It was a 3-3 game after seven, with the Hoppers taking a 4-3 lead in the top of the night before the Flash scored twice in the bottom of the frame, with Zach Smith getting a walk off single.

Blake Jackson hit two home runs for the Hoppers, with John Michael Reed going 3-4. Joe DeFina took the loss in relief throwing just 1/3 of an inning.

The Hoppers are back in Colonel Field this afternoon to face Owensboro in a 5 pm doubleheader, with pregame at 4:45 on News Radio 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP and whopam.com.
