Hoppers defeat Flash heading into All Star break

The Hoptown Hoppers won their final game before the OVL All Star break blasting the Henderson Flash 9-1 at Colonel Field Saturday night. The Hoppers scored twice in the first inning and took a 4-0 lead after six innings thanks to a two run home run from Cody Hartness. The Hoppers would send 10 men to the plate in the 7th and score four times and add one more run in the 8th.

Nick Proto had three of the Hoppers nine hits with Cody Hartness and Davis Keller each adding two. Shane Burns got the pitching win going 6 2/3 innings, allowing six hits and one unearned run. He struck out eight and walked two. The Hoppers are now 14-9 on the season.

Following the All Star break, the Hoppers are back in action Tuesday at Owensboro.

Elsewhere in the OVL last night: Paducah defeated Muhlenberg County 10-3, Owensboro edged Dubois County 9-8 and Fulton got an 8-7 walk off win over Madisonville.
