Work continues on trash collection solution in Todd Co.

A solution is in place for former commercial customers of Republic Services in Todd County, but it’s going to take a little more time to finalize a solution for residential curbside pickup.

Todd County Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield says Queen City Disposal and Waste Industries of Clarksville have agreed to begin emptying dumpsters at businesses and farms immediately.

It’s more difficult to work out residential trash collection out in the county, so Todd Fiscal Court could approve a free month of membership to the convenience center drop off locations for former Republic customers when it meets Friday at 3 p.m. in a special-called meeting.

Judge Mansfield is nearly certain Waste Industries will offer residential curbside pickup in the near future, it’s just going to take some time to work out the routes and details.

Republic recently announced it was abandoning its Todd County routes and gave officials and customers about two weeks to find a new plan. Citizens living in the city limits of Elkton and Guthrie are not affected by the changes.

Mansfield says he will work with Fiscal Court to find a permanent solution to be sure the county doesn’t find itself in the same situation again in the future after this hurdle is cleared.
