Slight risk of severe weather this afternoon, tonight

Thunderstorms are forecast to move into the region this afternoon and tonight and a few could become severe.

The Storm Prediction Center has outlined Christian, Todd and Trigg counties and most of western Kentucky and northwestern Tennessee in a slight risk for severe weather.

Damaging winds and heavy rain will be the primary threats, but an isolated tornado and damaging hail cannot be completely ruled out.

A tornado was observed by a trained weather spotter about 9:15 last night in southeastern Calvert City, but Marshall County Emergency Management reports no damage or injuries. Portions of Marshall, Livingston and Lyon counties were under a tornado warning for a while last night due to the reported twister.

Stay tuned to the WHOP family of stations and monitor our websites and social media outlets for any potential watches or warnings today and tonight.
