Kiwanis Soap Box Derby is Saturday

Approximately 55 local youngsters are slated to participate in the Kiwanis Club Soap Box Derby Saturday on Bethel Hill.

Jincy Hayes and Amy Rains are co-directors of this year’s event and Hayes says racers have an opportunity to take a test run down Bethel Street Friday afternoon at 3.

Money raised by the derby allows Kiwanis to send the champions in the Super Kids, stock, super stock and master’s division to the International Soap Box Derby next month in Akron, Ohio.

Any money left over from the weekend will go to the Kiwanis Warm the Children campaign.

Racers should be at Bethel Street about 7 a.m. Saturday, as a photo of all participants will be taken at about 7:30.
