UPDATED: Woman arrested after stabbing incident

The victim of a stabbing Wednesday night on West First Street was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Hopkinsville Police arrested 30-year old Demisha Wilford of Hopkinsville and charged her with first-degree assault for the incident that happened about 9:35 p.m. at 711 West First. The citation says she had been in an argument that turned physical with 27-year old Duane Morehead of Hopkinsville when Wilford says Morehead retrieved a knife from the kitchen and she got a knife out of her car.

Wilford says Morehead was striking her car with the leg of a chair and that’s when she stabbed him in the right rear ribcage, causing injuries that sent him by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
