Beautification coordinator talks projects, survey

The Hopkinsville Beautification Commission has a new coordinator and she appeared on WHOP recently to talk about upcoming events with the commission.

Heather Braun is a Hopkinsville native and a graduate of Murray State University. She takes over for longtime coordinator Anne Casey, who recently retired from that position.  Braun says the commission is always working to beautify Hopkinsville, whether that be with the banners on the boulevard or hanging flower baskets all across downtown.

She says they’re also awaiting approval from city council to have Hopkinsville designated as a “Tree City”.

She says the designation will mean they can plant more trees and better care for the ones that exist.

Braun urges everyone to go to the Hopkinsville Beautification Commission Facebook page and take a survey to help shape the direction their efforts will take in the future. The survey includes questions about existing projects and where they could expand to, and what people might like to see happen down the road.
