Alberto to bring heavy rain to area

It looks as though the remnants of Tropical Storm Alberto will bring western Kentucky and middle Tennessee heavy rainfall this week.

The timetable for the heaviest of the rain has sped up, with forecasters now saying the storm will be centered near the Kentucky-Tennessee border about 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Showers and thunderstorms will be likely Tuesday and Wednesday and the southern Pennyrile could see about two inches of rain from Alberto.

The Storm Prediction Center does not currently have the area in a bullseye for severe weather in any of the next eight days.

The faster timetable for Alberto means the 400 Mile Yard Sale along US 68 this upcoming weekend will hopefully not be a complete washout, though there will be a chance for scattered storms Thursday and Friday.
