Group rallies against bullying

A group of community members rallied in front of the Christian County Board of Education Wednesday morning as they hope to work with leaders to stop bullying in schools.

Adia Johnson owns the Legacy Learning Center day care and organized the event after recent bullying incidents at Hopkinsville High School that were captured on cell phone video recording and posted on social media. Two juveniles were arrested for assault in connection with those incidents according to the sheriff’s department.

Johnson says she hopes the group of concerned citizens can work with the school board to find anti-bullying solutions before next school year.

Superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill says she’s pleased that the group is committed to help the district find ways to stop bullying.

Johnson says she and others are also forming a mentoring group as they hope to make a positive impact on local youth.
