Teen arrested after pursuit

A vehicle and foot pursuit by the Christian County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday morning ended with the arrest of teen for cocaine and other charges.

Sgt. Justin Meacham was running lights and siren on his way to an unrelated call when a vehicle in front of him ran red lights at First and Main Streets and then at First and Virginia, according to Sgt. Scott Noisworthy.

The 16-year old male driver continued driving when Sgt. Justin Meacham attempted to make a traffic stop and turned onto Glass Avenue, turned onto Seventh and then onto Rose Drive.

He abandoned his vehicle at 734 Rose and ran for the front door, but was caught and arrested by Captain Chris Miller and Sgt. Meacham.

A search of the car allegedly revealed a small baggie of cocaine.

He initially gave someone else’s name and social security number to police and was arrested for theft of identity, two counts of fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, reckless driving, possession of cocaine, assault of a police officer, speeding and other counts related to the pursuit.
