Morris, DeArmond win sheriff primaries

Republican Tyler DeArmond will face Democrat Kahle Morris, Jr. in November to decide who will be the next sheriff of Christian County.

DeArmond defeated Chuck Inman by about 1,600 votes for the Republican nomination and says he’s ready to continue working hard for the general election.

Morris says he’ll continue focusing on his message of addressing major problems in the community.

The surprise runner-up in the Democratic primary was retiring Hopkinsville Police Officer Julius Catlett, Sr., who congratulated Morris and says he hopes his emphasis on putting school resource officers at South Christian and other elementary schools out in the county will be taken to heart.

Lyn Moe came in third place, James Dragoo fourth and Jerry Pepper fifth.
