Christian County Sheriff Livy Leavell received the Breathitt Award from the Christian County Democratic Executive Committee Saturday night at the 24th annual Ned Breathitt Dinner.
Leavell has been sheriff since 2007 and was Christian County jailer prior to that. He has chosen not to seek reelection and the award recognizes him for his many years of service.
Democrats on this year’s ballot also had the chance to speak at Saturday night’s dinner, which was held at Pioneers, Inc.
