Sinking Fork Elementary principal retiring

Sinking Fork Elementary has joined the list of schools in the Christian County School District searching for a new principal, as Principal Kathleen Carter has announced her retirement.

Her retirement will be in effect at the end of the current school year, according to a news release from CCPS, which says Carter began her career as a substitute teacher in 1990 and became principal of Sinking Fork Elementary in 2006.

Carter says it has been an honor to be a part of a district that works hard to engage students every day and she has enjoyed teaching the children and grandchildren of her previous students.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to go to the Christian County Public Schools System website and take part in a survey that allows them to have a voice in the selection process for a new principal. The survey will be available Tuesday and the school’s site based decision making council will meet Wednesday to discuss the job search.
