Man indicted for rape, sexual abuse

A Christian County Grand Jury indicted a Hopkinsville man on charges of rape, incest and sexual abuse Friday.

In a direct submission to the grand jury, the indictment alleges that 50-year old John Patrick Reed, between the dates of August 2007 and January 2013, he committed sexual abuse against a victim under 12 years of age. Between the dates of January 2013 and 2016, he allegedly forcibly engaged in sexual intercourse with the minor female victim over whom he held a position of authority or special trust.

Reed is charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree sexual abuse of a victim under 12 years of age and incest.

Reed is currently lodged in the Christian County Jail on similar charges.

Indicted on felony theft charges is Robert Williams of Dover, Tennessee, for allegedly renting a trailer from MidSouth Rentals in Hopkinsville worth $6,000 while giving a false address and then not returning it.

The trailer was located near Gallatin, Tennessee several weeks after the lease of the rent was up, and was returned to the company.
