An investigation on Clark Street in Hopkinsville Sunday morning led to the arrest of two men on drug and gun charges.

Officer Jamie Gapp was in the area of 146 Clark Street with the window down on his cruiser and smelled an odor of marijuana, according to the arrest citation. At the same time, he saw 23-year old Devante Campbell of Hopkinsville emerge from in front of a parked vehicle and he was standing next to another man.

The arrest citation says police found a marijuana cigarette was located next to Campbell and his backpack contained individual baggies and a scale. A baggie of marijuana and a loaded handgun were also found nearby.

A second man at the scene, 20-year old Shane Francis of Hopkinsville, allegedly had restricted ammunition in his pocket that fit the handgun.

Both suspects were arrested for trafficking in marijuana, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence and using restricted ammunition during commission of a felony.
