County cruises to win over Hoptown in 8th district baseball opener

Christian County opened 8th district play with a 7-1 win over Hopkinsville. It was a scoreless game through five innings before the Colonels took a 2-0 lead in the top of the sixth. Hopkinsville pulled to within one run thanks to two errors on a pickoff attempt of Michael Graham in the bottom of the sixth before Christian County batted around in the seventh inning and scored five times.

Jase Polley went 3-4 at the plate for the Colonels, with Wyatt Stevenson getting the complete game pitching win and striking out 13. Robert Justus went the distance for the Tigers and struck out nine in the loss, with John Duvall and Landon Snyder getting the only hits for Hopkinsville.

Christian County is now 4-6/1-0 in district play while Hopkinsville is now 6-6/4-1 in the district.
