Todd Fiscal Court approved a pair of grant application resolutions Friday that could help facilitate improvements at the Historic Todd County Courthouse and at the Sharon Grove Community Park.

Historic Todd County, Inc. is applying for a $500,000 community development block grant that Glen Slack says would allow them to install an elevator and make other improvements to bring the top floor of the old courthouse into compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act standards.

While the first floor serves as the Todd County Welcome Center, Slack says the upper story is long overdue for renovations.

The Sharon Grove Community Park Board received approval from Fiscal Court to apply for a recreational trails grant that Tammy Sisco says would be used to construct an asphalt walking trail.

Sharon Grove Park will host a barbecue fundraiser on Saturday, May 19, which will also serve as a forum where candidates running for office can make their case to voters three days before the election.

In other action, magistrates approved the purchase of a 2017 Case IH tractor from H&R Agri Power for the road department at a cost of about $54,000 and spent another $4,000 for a two-year extended warranty.

Fiscal Court also approved a $1,000 donation to the Burden Bearers Chaplain Service, which responded to 122 calls last year in Todd County.
