Man arrested for drug possession, DUI

Hopkinsville Police arrested a man on DUI and drug charges following a traffic stop for speeding Wednesday evening.

Lt. Seth Meek attempted to stop 26-year old Derrick Tyler of Hopkinsville near Walgreens on Fort Campbell Boulevard for speeding about 5:45 p.m., according to an arrest citation.

Police say Tyler initially weaved in and out of traffic before eventually pulling over. There was reportedly an odor of alcohol coming from Tyler’s person and he performed poorly on field sobriety tests.

The report says a search of his person revealed seven loose white pills in his pocket and a loose Hydrocodone pill was located in his vehicle. Tyler reportedly admitted the pills didn’t belong to him.

He was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless driving and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
