Two arrested for felony theft of railroad parts

Two Hopkinsville men were arrested Friday on charges of felony theft after they allegedly stole railroad equipment belonging to CSX at Kelly Church Road.

According to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office report, deputies responded to reports of a theft in progress where two men were seen stealing equipment or parts at the railroad tracks at Kelly Church Road. Contact was made at a Madisonville Road address with Christopher Diller and Marty Draper, both of Hopkinsville.

Diller stated he had spoken with a CSX employee who told him he could take any old parts lying on the right of the tracks. Contact was made with CSX, who told deputies they had not given anyone permission to take anything from the area.

Diller and Draper reportedly had 57 plates and two, five gallon buckets filled with brackets and spikes. They were taken back to the tracks, where they reportedly put the items back.

Both were arrested and charged with felony theft. They were additionally seen on video surveillance allegedly stealing items from R&S Equipment.
