UHA announces next head of school

University Heights Academy has named its next Head of School.

Beth Unfried will replace Pam Nunn, who is retiring at the end of this school year.

Unfried currently serves as Director of Elementary Education for the Clarksville- Montgomery County School System and previously spent time as a teacher and school administrator.

An email from UHA says Unfried has served on numerous district and state committees and been a presenter at state level conferences.   She received the Tennessee Association of School Librarians Distinguished Administrator Award, the Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Association Distinguished Administrator Award, and was named the Tennessee Principal of the Year Grand Division Winner.

She also led Norman Smith Elementary School to earning Tennessee reward status and the SCORE prize for top performing school in Tennessee.

She is a Hopkinsville native and resident, a graduate of Christian County High School and a graduate of Austin Peay State University.

In a statement to local media Unfried says, “I am so excited to have the opportunity to serve in my community and join the great team and tradition of excellence at University Heights Academy.  We will continue to work together and strive to be the best for our students.”

Unfried is not new to UHA, as her daughter Chandler graduated from the school in 2015, and she has another daughter, Maggie, who is presently enrolled as a freshman.

She will begin her duties as head of school on July 1.
