Most local legislators support pension bill

Rep. Lynn Bechler

A pension reform bill was filed in the Kentucky Senate Tuesday and while local legislators admit it isn’t perfect, most are prepared to say they will support it.

Republican Representative Walker Thomas represents portions of Christian and Trigg County and says he supports the bill at this point because it makes the pension systems solvent.

Representative Myron Dosett of Pembroke is going to finish reviewing the bill and hear from constituents before making a decision.

Public feedback that’s positive and negative has been received by Representative Lynn Bechler, who says he also support the legislation at this point.

Senator Whitney Westerfield  supports the measure  and says most concerns he’s received have been over reduced cost of living adjustments for retirees.
